Here are some of the following which were used locally in my district in olden times.
As I past over London bridge I met an Irish scholar he took of his hat and drew off his glove will you tell me the name of the scholar = Andrew.
Its deep and its damp and its green above the bank and it is fit for a Lord or lady = A grave
As black as ink as white as milk and it hops on the road like hail stones = a Magpie
Headed like a thimble tailed like a rat if you were guessing for ever you would never guess that = a Pipe.
A flock of white sheep on a red hill, here they go now they go now they stand still. = Teeth in your gums.
Out of a room full cannot take a spoonful = Air.
I have a little house and a mouse would not fit in it and all the men in Derry would not count.(continues on next page)
