  1. The next I heard was Master Mark Heally the father of Archbishop Healy. His wife was teaching also. Master Heally taught as a hedge schoolmaster in a house in the chapel yard inside the hedge where Father Gordon's grave now is. There were four houses in a row there. The master got from two to four shillings a quarter according to the classes the pupils were in.
    There was a mistress teaching in Hollybrook but I do not know her name. There was a woman paid in it for boiling porridge and the children used to get two meals each day.
