  2. Aughanagh - Acaro Canar - the town land of the marsh, and it was rightly called so, for a good portion of it is wet and marshy, bordering the lake. The townland is divided into two parts by the main road Sligo - Dublin, which is known locally as the name Coach road, well known in old days. There is a house still occupied and known as the "Stage".
