There is one old woman living in this town-land. Her name is Mrs Pye aged about seventy eight years. She does not understand any Irish, but she has some English stories. - Ceathramadh Caol – The narrow quarter of land. This town-land is long and narrow and stretches from Culsheramore down to Clohogue. It forms the eastern slope of the Bricklieves and the land is generally bad and rocks come of the surface in many places.
Low stunted clumbs of bushes are to be seen here and through out the townland. The valley is the [is] only arable part, and here the houses are to be found all thatched except one.(continues on next page)
