car, and a four horse care on this road. He traveled at a speed of eight miles an hour. Each vehicle carried from four to twenty passengers.
The horses were changed every twenty miles and in the village Ballinafad there is a house now used as a barn which is known as the coach house. A spare coach was kept here, and portion of the building was used as a crude forge for putting on loose ties or for fixing on a loose shoe on a horse. Lower down the coach road there is another house now used as a dwelling house called the stage. Here horses were kept.
