    killed in the wars.
    Many years
afterwards the sons of the men
    concerned in the dream dug
the field from end to end
but failed to get the treasure.
    This story
    has a special significance
    in view of the name
    of the townland in which
    the “Carraigin” is situated.
    In Joyces
    Irish names of Places “Tawnytaskin”
    is given as meaning
    “Tamnac an ugeiscinn” “green
field of the marsh.” But my
    mother told me that her
    grandfather Patrick Coleman of
the dream told her that he often
heard the old people say that
    the name had some reference
to eascú or eascon an eel.
    Or could it be
    possible that both meanings
are wrong and that the name
    refers to Taisce a treasure.
