    bodily discomfort of both teacher and scholars the atmosphere of this Hedge School seems to have been lively and good humoured.
    The schoolmaster had to take what he could get and that was given freely. The people wanted education for their children and very often paid more for it than they could afford. On some of the estates around here the thirst for education was so great that there were three or four schools or so called ones on each. The people of each district joined in engaging a school master. Then they built a miserable but on the seaside in some suitable place.
