- The bread which was made or used mostly in former days, was oaten cake. Bread was made from wheat and oates grown by local people. The flour was made locally. People remember grindstones being used which ground the corn for them.
The different kinds of bread used were oatmeal cake, potato cake, and boxty which was also made of potatoes. Oatmeal cake was made from oatmeal mixed with a little flour, salt, and water was added in the kneading. Potato cake was made from boiled potatoes which were broken(continues on next page)- Informant
