undergo various operations before ready for use.
First, it is rocked to gather the butter. Then, it is lifted out of the churn with butter spades and put on a large wooden butter dish. Then, it is washed and salted, and made into a roll. In olden days, if a person went into a house while the act of churning was being performed, he was expected to take a "Gness" if not he was accused of taking the butter.
The milk left after the churning is made, is called butter milk which is used in feeding pigs and making bread.
The churn is washed with boiling water and is left to bleach after each churning.
