- (continued from previous page)noticed a man whom they thought to be me, and fired immediately. The corpse fell face downwards into the church. They ran towards the body and shouted out on the way "we have him at last."
They then decided to bury the body in a far corner of the church. While engaged in the burial I stole the gold. Just as they were coming back I escaped narrowly.
The Knight of Glen was pleased, and kept his word, but sent for the second son.
"I was nearer to death once than this boy" said the Black Thief. "Not possible" said the Knight of Glen. "Well if I prove to you that I was" said the Black Thief "will you set this boy free". "Granted" said The Knight of Glen. So the Black Thief began:-
I was poor and in want of money as I am now yet I was determined to get money somewhere and somehow. So I went to rob the house of a rich gentleman in the district.
Though the house was well guarded I got in through the window and gathered all the gold I could possibly lay hands on.
To get out now was a big difficulty as the house was surrounded by guards, and the(continues on next page)
