    This is how it was done. First the flax was grown in March and pulled in August. It was then tied in sheaves which were then "bogged" that is put into a bog-home on stagnant waters to steep it. It was then taken out and spread out to bleach. With a heavy mallet and stone, it was pounded to remove the outside "husks". Then it was made into "táiheens", about a fistful in each ready for the "cloving tongs". The latter takes off the "hulls" from the flax.
