- Another story about Eoghan RuadhOne day, Eoghan Ruadh and a friend were going to Killarney. Eoghan Ruadh said in a joking manner, that whichever one of them would not have a rhyme composed before reaching the town, would have to treat the others to a drink.
They were so deep in conversation that Eoghan’s friend forgot all about the rhyme.
On their way they met a sheep and Eoghan said.
“Is breágh é do lomrad, a chaora.”
They next they met a woman and he said.
“Is geal é do phíopa, a bhean,”
Again they met a man with a bundle of rods on his back and Eoghan said.
“Cheapas gur insan nGeimhreadh a ghnítear an t-slat.”
When they got to town, Eoghan insisted on being treated.K.Riordan- Informant
