“The Hugh Family - the O Donoghues, often gave as many as twelve bottles of whiskey...”
(The Hugh Family - the O Donoghues, often gave as many as twelve bottles of whiskey, to the makers of the bonfires, who held them up on their way home - after their marriage.)- In the parish of Tuaith - Beaufort, when a station was held far away in the glens, the priest went to the house, the evening previous to the Station. Accommodation was so scant in olden times, that he sometimes shared the bed with the old man of the house. There were not many roads in those times, and the priest travelled on horse-back.
