- The churn that we have is about three feet high and is wider at the bottom than at the top.
Its sides are round with a staff attached to the side and a wheel bolted to it.The dash is worked on to the wheel and as it goes round it lifts the dash up and down.
There are a number of parts in the churn.the dash cup and liel which are all made of oak wood as well as the churn.
The people do not churn as often in winter as in summer because milk is scarcer then.My mother and sister churn in our house.First the churn is scalded with boiling water and then rinsed with cold water.The milk is then tested and put into the churn.When the milk is broken some cold water is added.When the churning is finished, the butter is taken off and washed with cold water.Some salt is added- Collector
