    arrived at the Quarry. The fight started and the spectators thought that stockdale who was slim and lightly built would not stand the big strong tough local champion McShane for than a few minutes. The went on five minutes ten minutes twenty minutes and Stockdale was still fighting gamely and giving as much as he was getting. By this time both mens clothes faces and hands were splashed with blood. Their eyebrows were cut and they were bleeding from the nose and mouth. After about half an hour neither man was hardly able to lift a hand and lay against each other most of the time like two spent gamecocks. But neither would give in. The spectators began shouting to
