  1. The weed called ragwort was supposed to be the fairy's seat & it was unlucky to beat with it.
    Turkeys were fed on dandelions.
    It is unlucky to throw ashes and water out on New Year's Day.
    The best man & brides maid, when they would come to the avenue leading to the house would run to see which of them would get the bottle first. When they would pass the drink around & give the bottle to the groom to break it. It was counted lucky if the groom broke it with the first knock against the ground - unlucky if he failed to do so.
    When the marriage ceremony was over whichever one of couple got up from altar first was said to live the longer.
    If the sun shone on first day of marriage it was a sign of happiness and if it rained she would have a tear on her eye.
    The eldest girl in the family got married first.
    It was unlucky to go back to the bride's home before a month.
    It was unlucky for two in same family to get married inside one year.
