  1. When there is going to be rain the smoke will not go up the chimney and if you notice a big ring round the moon it is a sure sign of rain or storm. When there is going to be snow the wind is nearly always from the north and when there is going to be dry weather the wind comes from the east.
    When the sky is very dark it is a sure sign of rain. When the sky is full of white clouds it is a sign of snow. When there are long rays from the sun the weather is going to be wet. When there is a halo round the moon it is a sure sign of rain. When the stars are "shooting" it is a sign of rain. When you see a rainbow in the sky in the morning there is going to be rain. When you see a rainbow in the sky in the evening it is a good sign of the weather being dry.
    "The north wind shall blow and we shall have snow, and what can the robin do then poor thing". He'll go to the barn and keep himself warm, and hide his head under his wing, poor thing". Before there is going to be snow the robin gets very tame. The sheep all gather together when there is going to be snow.
