    builds its nest under a roof. The cuckoo builds no nest. She lays her eggs in some small bird's nest. The corn crake builds her nest in the corn. The water-hen, water-duck and snipe build their nests in bogs. The thrush, the blackbird, the crow, the magpie build their nests in the grass. The young birds are called sleinnies.
    If the swallow flies low it is a sign of rain. If the black-bird sings very hard in the evening, it is a sign of rain. The people say that when Our Lord was dying the robin was standing at the foot of the Cross, and a drop of blood fell on the robin's breast. That is why the breast of every robin is red.
