    Children form a ring to play "Off to the Butcher's Shop I go" and sing-
    "Off to the Butcher's Shop I go,
    I cannot stay any longer,
    For if I do, my mother will say
    Play with the girls in the corner." One child goes out and taps some-one on the back and says: "He-hi ho my (naming child) he-hi-ho, hit her a kick and send her off for she's the butcher's daughter." She repeats this until she has touched all the children in the ring.
    A popular game with girls is- "How many miles to Barley Bridge?" Two children select two different articles and they hold up their joined hands to form a bridge. The others get into a line and march, one behind the other,under the bridge singing..
    "How many miles to Barley Bridge."
    Four score ten,
    I'll be there with candle light
    Yes, indeed, and back again." The last child to pass is caught between
