  1. (continued from previous page)
I lay myself down to rest. Bless me, O Lord! defend and govern me and after this short and miserable pilgrimage bring me to the everlasting joys and glory of Heaven. Amen.
    5. Another night-prayer -
O Holy Virgin, midst the days of your glory, do not forget the sorrows of this earth. Cast a glance of mercy upon all those who are suffering and struggling against life's difficulties. With their lips constantly pressed against life's bitter cup.
Have pity on those who love each other and are separated.
Have pity on our rebellious hearts,
Have pity on our weak Faith,
Have pity on those who weep, and those who pray and those who fear, and grant hope and peace to all.
    Amen.
    6. Another bed-time prayer -
I lay my body down to sleep,
I pray to God my soul to keep.
And if I die before I wake,
I ask of God, my soul to take.
