- (continued from previous page)got its name.There is a bye road leading from the LIsdowney road to Clonetubrid. It is called "the dead mans road". A poor man was travelling from Ballyragget to Urlingford and he was murdered on this road and hidden under a bridge. He was there for three or four days and when he was found it was called "the dead mans road" ever after.
- Sore feet in Summer can be cured by putting Elder leaves in the boots. Celery leaves stewed in beer is a cure for scurvy. Stewed Burdock or velvet leaves is a cure for a cough. To cure warts rub constantly with Ricketts blue. Barbara bark stewed in beer is a cure for jaundice. Boiled Robin-run-the-hedge is good for purifying the blood.
