    schools held sometimes in sheds, and sometimes in farmer's houses.
    In a big field in Scotstown long ago a school master got a few men to build a shed for him in which to teach the children. They had no black board but the children collected slates from houses and they went to a little stream with very clear water in it near the field where the school was and at the bottom of this stream they got little white stones to write on their slates in school.
