    Others plough the ground and when the drills are opened the manure is spread in them. The potatoes are grown mostly in drills but any farmer that has a narrow that the horses cannot turn in it when being ploughed he sets it in ridges. The ridges are set with spades. The farmer digs deep down into the earth. Then he shovels the clay till he gets it like a table.
    Then the manure is spread on top of the ridge and four potatoes are covered with clay again. The ridge is about 1 1/2 ft wide. Spades are used for the ridges and ploughs for the drills. In olden times the
