- 1) Once a beggar was going into a convent and he met the Rev Mother. He asked her for alms. After a while the Rev Mother said to him "what is the best way to save your soul". "O", said the beggar " to walk on your heels".
- 2) Another day the same beggar went into a house in Currans and he got a plate of soup and a small piece of meat. Whilst he was eating the woman of the house put on reading glasses. "Come here mam" said he "would you tell me what are the specs for". "Oh don't you know to make things bigger". "Great God mam" said he "would you mind lending them to me to make the piece of meat bigger"
