(continued from previous page)got a chapel built for the people of the district.
Seeing a crowd of people passing early one morning he asked his herd where they were going, and on being told that they were going to hear Mass in Ross, he felt great sorrow that people should have to worship God in the open air in all weathers. At that time Mass used to be said at "The Mass Hole" a lonesome place in Ross.
He got the chapel of Flaska built at his own expense and when later on it was found to be not suitable to the majority of the people it was changed, stone for stone to Killina in 1860.Cloonshanville.
This was a famous monastery on the North side of Frenchpark. The ruins are there still, fairly well preserved, and a graveyard surrounds the abbey.
It is situated in a very fertile district and near a river and lake famous for fishing.(continues on next page)
