- I saw this in a farmer's house here myself. A piece of cardboard or a white sheet of paper. Down through the middle was a line. Directly on the linew was fastened a head of wild oats (searbhán). When the head inclined one way or to one side twas a sign of rain & in the opposite direction fine weather The farmer waited to see which way it turned when making it a first & then marked wet at one side and dry at the other side. I often observed it myself & found it very sure for a certain time. Then a fresh head had to be obtained.[Drawing] - Diagram of above
