    Herbalist
Near the parish of Kilmacow at a place called Silverspring about four miles away lived up to a short time ago a herbalist named Bowers a Protestant. He was noted all over the South of Ireland for the efficacy of his salves and cures all made from herbs grown or gathered by himself. People came from all parts and he succeeded in effecting several noteworthy cures of sores and cuts, pains, etc.
