    Thus estranged from his proud kindred
    Holding him at deadly strife.
    Four short happy summers glided
    O'er that knight and lady bright
    And to join that union closer
    Heaven had sent one blossom fair.
    One brave boy, their love and riches
    Ballyready's hope and heir.

    On the bliss so fondly sought,
    Came a cloud above from heaven,
    Thunder-charged and danger-wrought
    For the knight was sorely troubled
    With a jealous fever fit
    That among his one calm features
    Like a poisoned fiend woud flit.
