- Mrs Mockler tells a very strange story of Father John Murphy of Boolavogue. I am afraid no one with any knowledge of the Wexford Rising would believe it.
Accordint to her Father John Murphy was captured in New Ross by the English, when they returned and counter attacked the town. The following day or so he was being tried by the military in the Tholsal. Murphy of Annaghs came on the scene and, by some wonderful set of circumstances managed to escape with Father John to Annaghs. From thence he had him conveyed one night, by boat, across the river to the Co. Wexford side. If anything like this did happen it must have been some other priest, probably with the name(continues on next page)
