   His mother sent Johnny to get a pound of meat for sixpence. He bought sweets with the sixpence & put a stone in the bag. When he gave the bag to his mother, she said, "O! Johnny, its only a stone you brought me".
   "Is it a half cwt you want for sixpence," said Johnny.

   A merchant meeting a farmer asked him if his son still worked on the farm, but the latter answered "No, he is gone to the city."
   The former asked what he was doing there & the farmer said he was a 'shoe-black'.
   "I see," said the merchant, "So, you make hay while the son shines."

   
   (17)
   (a) A man living in Kilmoganny village was, one day, sent by his wife for mesages & milk. The shop keeper gave him the milk & put the mesages in a bag, but when he went out he put the milk in the bag too & spilled it.

   (c) On another occasion, instead of putting the potatoes he had dug into the bag, he picked stones & brought them home.

   (c) He entered a house one day as a mother
