- (continued from previous page)The "Old Cow" was supposed to be killed on the first week, skinned on the second & bleached on the third, because April came so fine, that she thought summer was coming.
- It is unlucky to get married in Lent. Friday is a day for crosses & Wednesday is lucky. The old people began ploughing on Feb. 1st.
- The cold days of early April are known as the days for skinning the old cow.
