    plough. Then the ground is prepared, and the potatoes are sowed in the drills. Each potatoe is placed about a foot apart.
    A few days before the potatoes are sowed the seed is cut. Only good sound potatoes are used for seed Small potatoes are used in preference to big ones for seed. If a big potato has a lot of eyes in it, it is halved or quartered.
    When a farmer is sowing a lot of potatoes, he sows a row of each kind. Eleven drills is generall called a "row". The neighbours usually help each other in cutting the seed or in sowing them.
    When the farmer has all the seed spread he comes along wiht a pair of horses and a plough and he halves each drill. Each half falls in over the seed
