    A long time ago there came to a sermon a young boy about seventeen years years old. He could never get frightened.

    He got a meal ready and made ready for the night. The noise was simply terrible and at midnight a big ugly looking man came down and sat by the fire. He spoke to him and after a start the youth fell asleep. When he awoke everything was all right. He got ready for the next night. Everything happened as before but a woman the size of an elephant came to the fire this night. She was very cold and he warmed her hands to the fire and said "ah my poor thing, you must be very cold." That did not frighten him. On the third night a wizened old man came. The youth said to himself
