"The Landlord"
Long ago there was a landlrod in every district in Ireland. To those landlords, people had to pay rent. If they did not do so within a month or so, they would be evicted.
The name of the landlord for Coolnacritta estate was Haughton, and a very cruel one he was. He had an agent named Abbott, who collected the money for him. He selected a certain house for himself in each district, while the landlord lived in London.
The only family I have heard of, who was evicted by this landlord, was the Campions who lived in the farm where Mr Denis Bergin now resides. They were evicted for non-payment of an exorbitant rent, which they were not able to pay.
