- (continued from previous page)He raced for the river to get outside the preserve. He cleared the river in one jump. The river at the place where he jumped is 22 feet and a half wide. The place is since known as Crosby's Leap.
- John Grady Ballintubber was a noted story teller. He is now dead for a long time. He used to sit at the cross at Ballintubber and tell stories to the boys who used to collect at the cross in the evening. He specialised in fairy tales.
