    Mumps or Swollen Glands
    Heat "flagger" leaves (long broad leaves of purple iris grown in old gardens)
    Apply to neck and keep on till heat abates.

    The LITTEN ? - inflammation of the Palate - Get a person who "never saw his father" to breathe into the child's mouth.
    Cough
    1) Take a "thraneen" of rib grass plantain - the long leaf found in meadows - the "thraneen" carries the seeds.
    Remove as much of seeds as fit between finger and thumb i.e. hold a bunch of the seeded stalks between finger and thumb, rub off the seeds, put down in milk and simmer gently for a couple of hours. Strain and drink.
    Take same amount daily till cough is cured.
    2) Use dock-seeds and prepare with milk, using similarly.
    3) Flax-seed tea to which sugar candy and liquorice ball are added.
    4) Mullein plant is very effective for cold.
    5) Roast a big onion, put in tea-cup, cover with sugar, stand awhile, then sip the liquid slowly - A good cure even for flu.
