A Local Song
“James Judge he was a widow's son,”
James Judge he was a widow's son,
He dwelt in Corrigeenroe,
He laboured for his landlord,
Judge Flanagan of Drumdoe.
'Twas on the 10th of July 1874
That this fatal accident ocurred
Upon Lough Arrow shore in the
Co. of Roscommon of the convies of Drumdoe.
A grieved afflicted widows son
Lay on the bottom low
That night he on the bottom lay
His friends they did not know,
That he drowned the eve before
While bathing at Drumdoe. 2nd Verse
The weather it being sultry and
When his day was in
Down by the margin of lake
He said he would have a swim.
He pointed to an island
Not far distant from the shore(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
