In "Seán meallan" there is a place called the "Porchias". There were about five houses here long ago. It is said lights used to be seen and a carriage and horses going up and down the field.
The general means of living for the people is farming. The biggest farmer has only about 8 acres of land others have 5, 6 and so on.
In a house where there is a family of 6 and seven they have to emigrate to England or America to make a living and to send home money to their parents to help them make a living. Sometimes even the(y) parents have to emigrate the(y) father goes if the children are not big enough.
In one case even the mother had to Máire Ní Diarmada emigrate. She is home now and her children are now gone.
