- Old graveyards are not very numerous in this parish. There are two important ones in the district. One of them is situated in the village of Killruane and the other is situated about half a mile from our school in the village of Kilruddane.
The graveyard in Kilruddane is circular in shape and slopes to the east. Up to lately this cemetery was covered with ash trees but they are now cut down. This graveyard got its name from St. Ruddane who had his church in this cemetery long ago. This church is not now in existence. A few feet of the walls is all that can be seen at present. Inside the graveyard gate of Kilruddane there is a stone with a hollow in it which was said to be used as a holy water font when St. Ruddane's Church was in existence.(continues on next page)- Collector
