- Mr. John Greevy told me that there were different kind of bread made in my district in olden times such as potato - cake, boxty - cake and oat - meal bread. The oat - meal bread was made of oat - meal and some sugar and it was wet with hot water. Then it was put in front of the fire and a flag or piece of tin was put between the cake and the fire so as that too much heat could not get to the cake.(continues on next page)
