  1. Come all you true-bred Irishmen and listen to my song,
    And if you kind attention pay I wont detain you long,
    I'll tell to ye the story true, and competent I am,
    Concerning Murty Hynes [comma in pencil, ? another hand] the League [comma in pencil, ? another hand]) and poor Tom Bermingham,

    The place that Murty lived in, was handy to Loughrea,
    The man was kind and dacent but he was led astray,
    And did what every Christian must call a burnin' shame,
    But now he has repented and cleared his honest name.

    When out upon the roadside poor Bermingham was sent,
    Because with all his striving he couldn't pay the rent,
    And keep up Lord Dunsandle, in horses, dogs, and wines,
    Who comes and takes the holdin' but foolish Murty Hynes,
    ___________
    The Agent twas that tempted him, and painted very plain,
    If he would take the vacant land how great would be his gain;
    Sayin' too if Murty lost the chance, to another it would fall,
    And Murty the soft amadhaun took faith and hook and all,
    ___________
    For miles around the people were "through other" and amazed,
