  1. Dear brothers of the Shamrock shore, on a foreign land we roam;
    Far far from thee beyond the sea,
    Three thousand miles from home,
    Tho' exiles in a foreign clime,
    Amongst stra["n" interpolated with carat]gers we must stand,
    Filled with a hope we will see again,
    Old sainted Ireland.

    When parting with my sister dear and loving brothers too,
    The tears did fall at the North Wall,
    When I bid them all adieu.
    And comrades too with whom I played,
    Whose hearts were light and bland,
    By hill and dale and brook and vale,
    I poor old Ireland.

    How sad at heart I felt to leave, old Erins lovely plains,
    But still more sad my brothers feel,
    To see her bound in chains,
    Though exiles banished o'er the main,
