  1. About twenty years ago, in the townland of Corraslira, there lived a little girl named Egan. She was about twelve years of age and was tenderly loved by all her neighbours and friends. She was a very good scholar and this made her parents love her more deeply.
    At last she got the whooping cough and was very sick. This annoyed her parents very much as there was no curing of it. The little girl became so bad as that she could eat nothing and she knew none of her friends.
