  1. Long ago there was an old catholic church in the townland of the abbey a short distance from the abbey school. A small part of the ruins where it was built is still to be seen.
    There was an aisle and three galleries in it and a thatched roof. Mass was said every Sunday morning there by a priest who lived near the place.
    It was very convenient to the country people and very few of them are living now that attended it. It was closed.
