- (Doire na Cathrach)On the west of Doire na Cathrach is a circular stone fort. It is surrounded by a low mound, and is different from the other forts by the complete absence of a moat. Tradition has it that it contains an opening, but that this opening is blocked up by stones and earth which accumulated from time to time and the entrance cannot be pointed out by the people living at present in this locality. Nearby was once seen a little oak wood, and old name-makers took the name Doire na Cathrach for the townland.Doirín = a little oak wood
Cathair = a stone fortNot far from the fort are four gollauns, three of which are still standing. Tradition has it that they were set up to commemorate the victory gained by the men of Gleann a Chroim over the men of Ive Laoghaire at a hurling match which was played near the place where now stand the gollauns.
Tradition states that a man from Draighneach dreamt that a pan of gold was buried in front of one of the gollauns. He came to dig for the gold and continued digging until he had just reached the pan. Just at that moment the gollaun fell(continues on next page)- Informant
