- Travelling folk still call at the houses. The same people do not stay any longer than a week.
Some are very poor and others are not so poor. They sell small articles. People buy sometimes from them.
We do not know where they obtain their supplies. Some of the travellers are generally welcome but others are not.
Because they are ill mannered and try to force their goods on persons.
They remain five or six days at a time and sleep in caravans.
They do not have food with them but get it from the people when they come. They accept bread, eggs, tea, milk, sugar and money or meat as alms.
These people travel from place to place. Some of them go about on foot others bicycles and other singly.
The best known are the Stokes, Stephens, and Greens. Some come when they hear of a fair and others have not any special time.(continues on next page)- Collector
