  1. The type of wild birds common in our district are the wild duck, water hen, wild goose, swan, robin swallow, goldfinch, yellowhammer, willy - wag - tail, blackbird, thrush, magpie, pidgeon, crow, starling, seagull, lapwing, grey plover.
    The robin builds on a shady bank with leaves around it. The wren builds in ivy and thorns or in old ruined walls. With moss they make their nests. The sparrow builds his nest of hay and feathers warmly lined. The owl builds in a barn or in a hollow of a tree. The blackbird builds of grass and mud. In bushes it is found. The lapwings dark spotted eggs are layed on the ground. The magpie's nest is of thorn and is found in tree or hedge. The wild duck and the waterhen builds at the water edge.
