There were only three meals long ago, the breakfast, the dinner and the supper. There was a time when the people did not know what tea was. For the dinner they would have butter - milk and potatoes. The time they would eat their breakfast was at seven oclock in the morning. The dinner was at one oclock and the supper at eight oclock. The people used to get up at seven oclock long ago. They would be threshing oats in the barn two hours before they would eat their breakfast. The poor people who had no table used to eat their meals on the floor. The rich people who used to eat meat long ago. American bacon it was. they used to eat it like bread. On St.Patrick's night they would have a big dance. They all would have to give a shilling each and they would buy a bag of loaves and they would all eat them. They used to have no cups only tin sauspans.
