   To see the Black-bird flying near a house in the morning it is the sign of bad weather. To see a great many birds singing together it is the sign of good weather. When you hear the Wild-geese crying it is the sign of frost. When you hear the snipe in the evening it is the sign of fine weather. When you hear the Corncrake it is a sign of fine weather. If you see the Wild-duck in the evening flying low it is the sign of bad weather. When they see the Seagulls on top of a hill they say it is going to be wet. When the Cuckoo comes to Ireland people say "the summer is nigh".
