His wife thought she would have it riddled when he would come home in the evening so that he would think he was able to do all sort of work. She went in and brought out the sand-riddle and the bag of meal and she went up on a hill and riddled it all on the grass. When the man came home in the evening he asked her did it snow on the hill. "Oh no", she said "it was me that riddled all the meal. The man was very angry with her because the meal was all wasted and only a cow of not much value, but they had a fairly good supply of cabbage. The man said he would kill the cow and she would grease the cabbage the cabbage. The next day when the man had gone working she killed the cow and put pieces of the cow on each head of cabbage; when the man came home in the evening he noticed all the dogs that were in the garden, he went down and saw all the bits of the cow on the cabbage.
